We began in Cana. The second day of the Jesus Trail. Our way was filled with wild views, long distance points we could see for miles but kept trudging towards. Along the way we met many beautiful people. The couple who runs a guest house in Cana -- they spoke as much English as they could and we as much Arabic as we could. They showed us around the jumbled, multi-roomed, multi-bed guest house, showing us each shower and each mattress (pulling sheet corners off to do so!).

In the middle of the day, we trudged along a hot dusty road. A lone truck passed us then stopped and backed up to offer us a ice cold, dirty bottle of water. The driver poured one half bottle into the other and handed us the whole thing. We exchanged broken bits of our stories. We never found the water source in the area but this gentle man came out of nowhere and offered us a few smiles, gentle eyes, and water.

In the afternoon, we stopped at an organic goat farm where Jesus Trail hikers sometimes stay overnight. Very cool place! These pictures are for you, Momma. You would love this place!
Short term volunteers sat and chatted with us, offering water.
Guests sleep in these yurt-like tents across a small yard from the goat pens. They milk the goats to make cheese and also demonstrate organic farming around an acre or so of quaint peacefulness.

Still later in the day we walked on an ancient Roman road out in the middle of a cow pasture.

In the end, we found ourselves near an orthodox Jewish community, Kibbutz Lavi. We did not visit the community, but enjoyed a very old wine press situated behind a monument commemorating Holocaust victims.

We enjoyed the rest before hiking back to the main road to catch a long bus home.
